Hudson Awning was founded by a sail maker who made canvas sails for ships that sailed along the Hudson River in 1881. As main streets started to develop during the industrial revolution, Hudson segued from ships to store fronts, protecting customers from the elements.
The company has come a long way from the early days, to becoming the oldest and one of the largest awning companies in the Metropolitan area.
Today, the company uses sophisticated computer technology to custom design awnings and canopies for the nation’s finest homes and business. They work closely with contractors and architects on large commercial projects. They research, design and fabricate for the movie and television industry and they provide solutions to many “special projects”, involving problem solving for their clients.
Awning manufacturing has developed from a cottage trade, “ma-pa” family business, to a billion dollar, worldwide industry. And Hudson is proud to remain on the cutting edge.
